This Is Dad Style

First let me begin by giving some back story on how Dad Style 99 came about. When I first started my Instagram Influencer journey, I wanted to be a fashion style content creator. Back then it was Grid_Style99. Tons of people were doing it and I constantly found myself trying to keep up with trends and styles when in reality, that wasn’t me to begin with. A couple of times I incorporated my daughter in some photos and the motivating and positive comments I received made me think how lucky and grateful I am to be a dad.

First time my daughter and I appeared in style

I had a real passion for being a father and it has been the best feeling in the world. I searched for stylish dad accounts and stumbled across a few. Then I came across some accounts where some dads expressed their struggles and challenges as a single dad. I remembered when my divorce took place, I went through a lot of challenges and I’ve learned some things along the way. Something inside me wanted to reach out and try to help every one of these dad’s. After some thinking and really digging deep, it was time to put my effort in trying to be a fashion stylist and go all in on being a dad who supports, motivates and guides other dad’s. I wanted to share my story. I wanted to talk about my struggles. I wanted to show how I’m surviving through those challenges. I want to show everyone that I’m doing it my way. I want to tell every dad that they too can have their own style of being a dad. Then Dad Style 99 was born.

Where does the 99 come from you ask? This number has been with me since I was a kid. My birthday is on the 9th month on the 9th day. My favorite NFL player wore #99. My first number I was given in a park recreational football league was #9. My favorite NASCAR driver started out with the number 9. I’ve had other instances where 9’s appeared to me in some way. Basically the number 99 symbolizes ME. It’s who I am. So, this dad is doing it in his own style.

So now let’s talk about what’s keeping you from getting your own Dad Style.

When your child was born, like in many families, your abuela, your tia and your mom was the first one to tell you “This is how you hold the baby. No! Not like that! Let me show you. I’ve done this before” or how about when your given the blueprint on how you were raised as a child and you were expected to follow the same steps. These things can be discouraging sometimes. Don’t get me wrong, their intentions are good and the excitement of the new bundle of joy is getting the best of them. The families help is always appreciated and the guidance is needed some times. After all, we were new to this at one point. It’s ok to feel lost or clueless on how to be a dad. One thing is for sure, you will love and care for this child like you have never before anyone else and that right there is what will point you in the right direction on how to be a dad.

You will go through trial and error. You will make mistakes. They will fall and get hurt. You will lose sleep when they’re sick. You will hurt when they’re sad. They will fill your heart. You will feel helpless sometimes. You’ll be a super hero but you can also be a villain. You will go through a lot of learnings. This is why you will know your child like no other. This is why you’ll know exactly what to do in every scenario. This is why you will find your own Dad Style…

So tell me. What is your Dad Style? What represents you? Send me a message and let me know what it is. I would love to hear from you.
